I'm an independent consultant based in Monterey, California. My expertise lies at the intersection of language and technology.
TALK ABOUT IT
As a Localization Consultant, I'm there to help you make smart decisions. I can develop custom workflows to get from A to B, develop processes where none existed before, write documentation to keep everything organized, recommend tools to get the job done, and provide training for how to use them.
The tools I use to do this include: SDL Trados, memoQ, Open Atrium, MediaWiki
DO IT
As a Localization Engineer, I actually do the work. I can localize all sorts of things, including iPhone and iPad apps, eBooks, motion graphics and of course, printed books and brochures. I add subtitles to videos and localize motion graphics. In addition, I create, design and localize dynamic websites.
The tools I use to do this include: Xcode, Eclipse, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Drupal
TEACH IT
As an Adjunct Professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, I teach both introductory and advanced courses in the Translation and Localization Management department. My courses include Introduction to Localization Project Management, Software Localization, Desktop Publishing for Linguists and Localization Project Portfolio.
The tools I use to do this include: My charming personality, my booming DJ voice, and occasionally a projector and laser pointer
